The Collierville Middle School baseball team has put their mark in the history books by winning the first ever TMSAA state championship. The Dragons defeated Stewarts Creek Middle School, 5-1, at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville to secure the title. Hayden Short was brilliant on the mound and earned the win allowing 1 run, 3 hits, and striking out a pair in 4 2/3 innings. He exited at the 85-pitch count limit. Brody Winemiller came in to record the final seven outs to pick up the save. The defense by the Dragons was spectacular - including a web gem by Ari Bethea at shortstop.
Offensively, the Dragons were lead by Bethea with 3 hits. Winemiller collected 2 hits.
CMS finishes the season 13-1 as the State Champions.
