Collierville, TN – Collierville Middle School is proud to announce the hiring of Monica Vaughn as the new Head Boys and Girls Track & Field Coach. In addition to her coaching role, Vaughn will also serve students as a Special Education Assistant, further strengthening her commitment to student success both in and out of the classroom.
A Memphis native, Vaughn brings an impressive background in track and field as both an athlete and coach. She was a standout sprinter at Memphis East High School before continuing her athletic career at Texas Southern University, where she competed at the collegiate level.
Vaughn has established a strong reputation for program development and athlete growth. One of the highlights of her coaching career came in 2024, when she led the Memphis East High School Girls Track & Field team to the TSSAA State Championship.
“I am honored and excited to join the Collierville Middle School family,” said Vaughn. “I look forward to helping our student-athletes grow not only in their athletic abilities, but also academically and personally. My goal is to build a culture centered on discipline, accountability, teamwork, and excellence.”
She is also proud of her strong family foundation. Vaughn has been married for 14 years to her husband, Cassius, who serves as a Physical Education instructor at West Collierville Middle School, as well as the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach and Assistant Flag Football Coach.
Together, they are the proud parents of five children.
“Monica brings tremendous energy, experience, and a student-centered approach to our athletic program,” said CMS Principal Brett Heinrich.
“We are excited for her leadership and the positive impact she will have on our track and field programs and our school community.”
Collierville Middle School looks forward to the continued success and growth of its track and field program under Vaughn’s leadership.
