The Collierville High School women’s cross country team continued its impressive run of success by securing the state runner-up title at the TSSAA State Championships held on November 7 at Shelby Farms in Memphis.
This marks the second consecutive year the Lady Dragons have finished second in the state, a testament to the program’s consistency and depth. Collierville tallied 41 team points, finishing behind Brentwood, who claimed the championship with 27 points.
Leading the charge for Collierville was freshman Maya Lang, who made a strong debut in her first high school state meet. Lang placed 13th overall with a time of 18:33.23, setting the tone for the team’s performance.
Sophomore Gabrielle Gulstrom followed closely, earning 15th place with a personal record time of 18:42.94, while senior Emily Munier capped off her high school cross country career with a 34th-place finish in 20:00.9.
Freshman Amaya Edwards also has an outstanding performance finishing 27th with a time under the 20:00 mark (19:18.67). Junior Marina Kavouras was the final Dragon to earn points finishing 32nd overall.
The Lady Dragons’ back-to-back runner-up finishes highlight the strength of the program and the promising future ahead, especially with underclassmen leading the way.
